memorial recap

The weekend has come and gone. As usually weekend aren’t long enough. I think the government needs to put in a week long holiday. Yeah, that will work for me. It was good though, Friday night drove down to Huntsville to hang out with Michelle and her friends. That was a lot of fun. Saturday, Michelle had asked me to go with her to a friend’s wedding. It was a very nice wedding and the reception was awesome. It was at the Huntsville’s US Space & Rocket Center, which is really cool. Then Michelle and I drove back to Nashville after the reception that night.

Sunday was a long day. Michelle and I woke up and went to church early because my parents were flying in from Hawaii. Yes, Hawaii! Picked up the parents and got them on their way back home. Then Michelle and I went to Dickson for my good friend’s, Hannah, wedding. It was a nice outdoors wedding and some how all the rain stopped for them. Paul came in town for it as well, so it was good seeing him. Got back to the apartment pretty late; so we just cooked a pizza and watched a little TV before heading to bed.

Monday, we took her dog and went for a run. It was a good run. Her dog, Heiress, didn’t last the whole time so we dropped her off at the apartment and ran the trial one more time. By the time we finished the run, the clouds had opened up and it was POOL TIME! I made us a To-Go cooler with some drinks and sandwiches and headed off towards the pool. It was relaxing to do nothing! We probably hung out there for about 3-4 hours. Made some tacos that evening and watched some TV.

It was a great Memorial weekend and I wish it was still going on! I hope everyone else had a great and safe weekend one as well.

turning 30…

This past weekend I went down to Huntsville to celebrate Zeke’s 30th birthday. Zeke is a fraternity brother from TTU that also lived with Kevin. It was a lot of fun! Friday night Michelle and I went on a dinner date to Monoca at Bridgestreet and then we swung by John Reinhardt because Preston and them were hanging out. It is always fun hearing Preston’s random stories.

Saturday afternoon Preston, John, Paul, Carmen and myself all went to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It was good. It had lots of cool actions scenes. I mainly thought the movie was a story filler for the main X-Men series. I give it a 3.5 out of 5. Later that night everyone headed over to Zeke and Heather’s house. His parents were there and about 20 or so friends. Everyone from Fraternity brothers, co-workers and friends. It was a lot of fun. Great food, some great competition of Cornhole! Kevin and Stacey challenged Michelle and I. It came down to the wire and Kevin and Stacey pulled out the win. Michelle and I put up a great fight. Well, to redeem ourselves, Kevin and Seth were on a hot streak so we took the challenge and beat them down! It was great, lots of fun, some smack talking and great people! Also got to see Brooks and Ally, which was great.

Sunday, Michelle and I had some plans to go out on a boat with a couple of her friends but since the weather wasn’t letting up at all. I believe a total of 7-9inches during the weekend. As Dan (WHNT, I believe) says, the soil just can’t hold anymore! We ended up running about 2.5 miles and that felt great. The rain hit us a couple times pretty hard but it felt great!! That night we made some Mexican Bean dip for starters, then some Tacos for dinner and one awesome desert. She made these “easy apple burritos.” Man they were great! Cinnamon, Caramel and Ice cream! Lets just say we were both full afterwards!

It was a great weekend! Another great trip to Huntsville in the books. I will be back on Friday night for Kevin’s Graduation. Haha!

Dega Baby!

So I went down to Talladega this year! Man was it awesome!! I haven’t been back to the track in about 10+ years! It brought back some good memories of Dad, Kevin, Brian and me camping for our first ever Nascar race!! This year it was Kevin, Gene (friend of Kevin), Michelle (friend of mine) and myself. We had to meet Kevin at 6:00am, which wasn’t fun! (I’m guessing Kevin is use to that since he has two kids!)  We got down there around 8:50am and walked around. We saw a couple drivers signing autographs, which was really neat. It is soo cool, 150,000+ people all walking around and hanging out. Lots and lots of trailers (18 wheeler trailers). We got some ear plugs and we were talking to the sales lady and she told Michelle (her first Nascar race) that her ears were bleeding after her first race. This really scared Michelle. Somehow trusting me and going with the game plan, she continued with us. We all grabbed some food and made our way into the track. She loved it!! The race was awesome! A wreck in the first 7 laps knocked out 18 cars. Including Mark Martin and Jeff Gorden! I believe there was a total of 9 cautions. There was a big wreck with 9 laps to go coming off turn 3 into turn 4. Then the HUGE wreck on the last lap going into the checkered flag! Check it out here (video)!! Everyone was fine, expect 8 people got minor injuries. I’m glad the safey fence did an awesome job! All in All, it was a great day! Pictures will be posted soon on KG’s site.
