Current Locations Plugin Suggestions

The plugin just started with an idea I had. Do you have any ideas for this plugin? Let me know.
Post any type of suggestions you would like to see the plugin have. I’m always willing to grow this plugin.

    Hi Justin!

I think the Current Location plugin has stopped working today. It is just saying “User ID incorrect…” to everyone that I’ve seen, even you! Any ideas?

Latitude itself and the public location badge seem to be functioning still, as you can still see the images generated by the standard Google code on external sites.

    Cheers,

    Nick

It would be great if there was some shortcode so I could just put a map of my current location into an activity page rather than making a template…

    Hi Justin,
the plugin stopped working for me today. It just says “User ID incorrect. You entered this id: xxxxxxx”. I’ve removed the id from the plugin by now because noone should see that. I’ve double-checked my id and even made copy/paste from the google-badge. But it didn’t work. If you need more information, fee free to contact me by mail.

btw: the plugin should NOT under any circumstance write the latitude user-id on a public page. Even not in error-messages. I’m using your plugin to hide the id to anyone and only publish the name of the city. I was very shocked to se my user id in the public presented error-message in my widget.

    Justin,
great plugin, but I noticed a few minor glitches:

    (1) If Zoom level is set to automatic you should omit the “&z=” completely in the map iframe as it only leads to a 404 error.
Or leave $map_zoom at the original value of 0 (&z=0 does work for the map display with automatic zoom).
However, zoom level 0 does not work at all for the static map :-(
Might be an idea to move line 19 of cl-function.php into the STATIC statements in lines 69 and 145

    (2) For international use it would look much better if you changed the accuracy text from “metres” to a simple “m” – or you go the extra mile for full internationalization ;-)

    (3) Which is the current version? The plugin itself says 1.5.2 whereas the config screen states we are on 2.2.7 already

    (4) for the wishlist: another zoom level “area” at something around 14 – in the static map not as close as automatic, but still a bit closer than city (level 10)

    (5) reading Dennis’ comment regarding his user ID being secret it would be good to have some extra hint somewhere: something like “Displaying the map will reveal your user ID in the page source whereas the static map does not. See the hints on the Google Latitude Apps page for further details.”

    Thx for the new version.
re Internationalization: I’ll be happy to help out with a German translation if necessary (with the help of Heiko Rabe’s translation plugin: http://www.code-styling.de/english/development/wordpress-plugin-codestyling-localization-en)

And I found the version glitch: apparently $version is used somewhere else on my site – I renamed yours to $cl_version throughout the index.php and all shows up fine.
